What if I upgraded from windows 7 ultimate to 8 then to 8.1? None of my keys are working. I used recoverkeys (Mediamonkey) to see what my current key is and it didn't work either.

I then install windows 10 on it. I keep this system for 3 years running windows 10 and upgrading along the way.
Lets say my PC gets messed up and I want to do a PC reset. would my pc reset all the way back to day one? Or would each OS update and feature release automatically slipstream into my initial reset image?

Isnt there a tool Microsoft could design so I could run it on my current system to prove I am elidgable to upgrade. Then let me install to a clean drive then when I am online it will verify I am on the same system and just activate windows 8 , 8.1 or 10
